i will always remember a certain febuary night standing beside a good friend of mine who looked at me and commented "i've never seen you so happy. this place is good for you." i smiled and went back to eating my amazingly magically delicious date ball.

So if you know me, you know i'm college shopping.I was thinking about Calvin but its cold and dreary in michigan and i dont think i can throw myself into just majoring in theology - especially reformed theology. I think God is wide and open and transcends our barriers; because our barriers are ours.

I want a school with a solid theatre department witha really cool technical director and a good program, an english department that could refine me a bit and a non-sectarian religion program that can let me poke around. it has somewhere i know that there are people who will take care of me because i am totally incapable of taking care of myself. and i need alumni connections. and cheap cigarettes.

i prefer it be in the middle of nowhere preferably by a sheetz

does anyone know where i could find such a place?

hey lizzie,

i'd been thinking calvin might be way too conservative for you. hmm...if i think of someplace i'll let you know. i think you'd like los angeles but we're hardly in the middle of nowhere. do you want a christian school or any kind?

in the meantime merry christmas girl!

linda :)

i don't want to go to a christian school. I'm majoring in comparitive religion i think. I want to write for something like relevant or sojourners - freelance kind of stuff.

Oh and you know that whole technical theatre thing that gives my life purpose....

Winthrop has an excellent theatre department and I think there's a religion department. Some people say Rock Hill's out in the middle of nowhere (even though it is close to Charlotte)

i was just hanging out with a college friend who works at messiah college in PA. she was dean of students and has a different position now. it sounds pretty cool but is christian obviously.

if you want someplace really diverse and liberal you could check out my alma mater occidental college but of course it's in los angeles. but you would have a place to stay if you wanted to come visit the school. :)

You might want to check out Pepperdine. I went to Lipscomb, but they only offer a minor in theater. Mine was in the technical side. If you like the south try Alabama

I'm looking at IUP - which one of my best friend/mentor went to back in the early '80's (for theatre) and had an absolute blast and had a 15 year career in professional theatre (before settling down) s i think that that tops my list. I went out there once a few years ago and it was the happiest i think I'd ever been in my life.

I'm still keeping an openmind though

cool girl. i will pray God leads you to the best college for you.

i forgot to mention that messiah college has anabaptist roots so they're big on peace and justice.
